The rights of the volunteer are as follow:
- To receive, throughout the duration of the program, the information, orientation, help and materials necessary to perform the assigned functions.
- To be treated without discrimination, and with respect for one’s liberty, dignity, intimacy and beliefs.
- To participate in the activities of the organization that one has joined, taking part in the elaboration, design, execution and evaluation of the programs in accordance with the organization’s status and application norms.
- To obtain an accreditation identifying one as a volunteer.
- To perform one’s activities in adequate conditions of security and hygiene.
- To gain respect and recognition for the social value of one’s contribution.

Volunteer Mater et Magistra provides the unique opportunity to live and work in Peru. You will experience first-hand the country's rich cultural diversity and its many-faceted heritage. Through the program, the school and the volunteers are able to make a contribution to Peruvian kids, society and country, this is a great expirience to be in direct contact with our people, culture and the oportunity to practice spanish.
Volunteer in Peru offers you the chance to work with other volunteers on a community development in an educational project.
ACCOMMODATION
Volunteers are placed at San Juan de Lurigancho, a developmet community near Lima. The work will be placed at Mater et Magistra Organization to help in education, organization, project development and management of activities.
PROPOSAL FOR VOLUNTEERS
1.- Education Languages :
To teach ENGLISH and/or FRENCH to our kids a complementary scholastic reinforcement.
Also it is offered to participate in the group-environment like; theater and music and increase self-esteem and communication for students, parents and teachers.
As well as interest and support in the library, and laboratory of our school.
2.- Health and Hygiene:
To help to the detection of infantile malnutrition in the infantile dining rooms for children in charge of the parish.
3.- Psychological:
To take care periodically test, evaluations and seminars for parents, students and teachers to accomplish balance in communication between families and school.
4.- Evangelization:
Spread the Good News in celebrations of the word, associated with missionaries. Form groups to teach pray adults and kids, organize activities to teach the bible and form a choir for Sunday mass.
OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN SPANISH :
If our volunteers are interested in learn or improve spanish language we have teachers that will be able to coordinate personalized classes.
RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE VOLUNTEER:
A volunteer is any person who freely promises to perform activities for the good of the general public.
Responsibilities of the volunteer are as follow:
- To comply with the commitment made to our organization and with the contract signed upon arriving - we generally ask for the minimum commitment of one month for the work placement and accomodation as well (chanages during the program are possible but dificult and are resolved on an individual basis)
- To safeguard, when needed, the confidentiality of the information received and learned during the development of ones activity
- To respect the rights of the beneficiaries of one’s volunteer activity
- To act in a diligent and solidarity manner
- To follow the instructions important for the development of assigned activities
- To use the accreditation and distinctions of the organization in an adequate manner
- To respect and guard the material resources given by the organization.
